“Mercenaries 2: WiF” Game Guide
Introduction / Game Elements

Welcome to LB’s Mercenaries 2: World in Flames Game Guide. In Mercs 2 you have to take out the evil Solano by doing a ton of contracts / missions in order to find out where he is. And, just when you think you have him, he proves harder to get than you thought. This is an open world, you decide what to do kind of game.

This Mercenaries 2: WiF walkthrough offers tried-and-true, fool-proof methods for eliminating each enemy. It covers every contract (mission) and every outpost mission on single player. It also covers game elements in detail, from how to steal a lot of fuel at once to how to capture HVTs.

These strategies tend to use the most readily available vehicles, airstrikes, and armaments possible, so that anybody can get through the missions with the most basic of equipment. They may not be the fastest or the flashiest strategies, but they work. If you’re having trouble with a particular contract or mission, just follow our strategies and you’ll be victorious!

This walkthrough is based upon the Xbox 360 version of the game. Controls are referred to generically with X360-specific controls in ( ). You can view your controls at any time by going to the Pause Menu >> Controls.

Choosing a Character

You have a choice of three characters, Mattius, Chris, or Jen. Each has their own perk, but your selection does not affect the game at all. Mattius regenerates health faster, Chris can carry more ammo, and Jen can run fast. Because I hate waiting around while my character runs from place to place, I chose Jen.

Game Elements

Health

Your health automatically regenerates. Also, some enemies drop health packs when they’re killed. In general, if your health is low, you’ll want to get out of the area to somewhere safe and allow yourself to heal. You can also call in a Medevac at any time.

Medevac

If you need to get out of a sticky situation you can call in a Medevac by going into the pause menu (hit “Start” on the X360). It costs $10K and will take you back to PMC HQ. You will rarely need to use this as the game is chock full of checkpoints during missions, so even if you do die, you’re rarely that far back.

PDA

Your PDA is your central source of information. It contains your map, stockpile, and info.

  • Map – You can scroll around the map to see what is what. You can place a beacon on the map which will then draw you the shortest driving distance between you and the beacon (GPS). You can call up “Factions” to see who has what missions available to you at any given time, or, if on a mission, you can call up “Objectives” to see exactly what it is you need to do.
  • Stockpile – Your stockpile is the place where you can view all of your available airstrikes, vehicles, and supplies. You can then assign them to be “Equipped” so that you can call them in. You earn stockpile items by completing missions, doing side jobs, or purchasing them at the various outposts.
  • Info – Kind of self-explanatory, info is most useful to see your current status with any given factions, that is, if you’re hostile, neutral, or friendly with them. In general, you’ll want to stay neutral or friendly with the factions. You can always bribe a faction to make your rating friendly.

Otherwise, info has a nice log so that you can see what was said and what your objectives are.
